Ambassador Janaka Bandara Presented the Letter of Credence 

Ambassador Janaka Bandara, presented his letters of Credence to the Chairman of State Administration Council, Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing on
07th June 2022. The Credentials ceremony was held at the office of the State Administration Council, Nay Pyi Taw.

At the courtesy call on the Prime Minister followed by the ceremony, the Ambassador conveyed warm wishes of the President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to the Prime Minister of Myanmar in furthering time-tested friendly ties based on Theravada Buddhism between the two countries. The Ambassador expressed his wish to materialize the friendly connections to gain maximum economic benefit for the both nations. The Prime Minister while endorsing the importance of consolidating historical ties and elevating the friendly connections for economic cooperation, assured his fullest support towards Sri Lanka in every possible manner. It was reiterated that the date of the Credential ceremony also marks the 73 rd milestone of establishing diplomatic relations between the two countries. Significance of establishing direct air connectivity between the two important religious destinations, cooperation in the agricultural sector, cooperation in the education and health sectors are some of the significant areas that were taken up at the discussion.

Joint Secretary of the Council Lt-Gen Ye Win Oo, Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Wunna Maung Lwin and the officials of the Foreign Ministry of Myanmar were also present at the ceremony and other meetings.

 The Ambassador Janaka Bandara also paid a courtesy call on the Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Wunna Maung Lwin. Bilateral economic cooperation, exploring
untapped potential for tourism and cooperation in international and regional platforms were the highlights of discussion.
